The first Greater Mankato Growth Agriculture Business Summit was held on January 29th, 2014 at the Verizon Wireless Center in Mankato, Minnesota.
The summit brought together community members, business owners, organizations, farmers and educational institutions within the greater Mankato region to discuss, plan and set goals for the agriculture industry.
The summit focused on the impact of agriculture in the Mankato region and surrounding areas. Participants came together to focus on a vision for what agriculture should look like in the region, and to communicate ways of supporting agriculture both long-term and short-term.
The Southern Minnesota Center of Agriculture served as a partner and collaborator on this event to utilize data from the Farm Business Management programs, their partnerships with agribusinesses and more.
The summit led to the creation of Greenseam. Greenseam organizes and aligns the collective work of its stakeholders to promote investment in ag business and contribute to the shared vision. This vision is to build on exising ag business prominence across the Southern Minnesota - Northern Iowa Agricultural Region maximizing a growing economic marketplace in order to be the premier ag business epicenter in the United States....the most diverse, balanced and sustainable.
